Management presented an integrated LCD and touchscreen solution combined with then existing static backlit cyberchrome and duratrans transparency directories to Westfield shopping centres. It took many years for this technology and concept to be embraced. Since that time Envent has introduced and implemented touchscreen Kiosk technology to several large retail and commercial chains throughout Australia including: Stockland, Colonial First State Property Management, Tabcorp, Savills, CBRE, to name a few.
The Wayfinding Design Process Envent has been developing new wayfinding solutions to meet the needs of various markets since 2004. Our main aim is to offer something unique and dedicated for each client. Without going into the intricacies of our customization or sales process, each client will inevitably require and want something with their own special touch on it, that is where Envent focuses our energy and invariably arrives at a solution that is world class and exceeds clients expectations.
Software
We accomplish this task by working with the client to determine the best method for allowing guests, shoppers, patrons, staff (users) from the touchscreen location to their final destination.
The process involves a number of systematic process for software customisation. We identity the key objectives, budgets, timeframes and technical / functional parameters to establish the high level milestones. From here we determine the amount of destinations to be sought, which can include people, rooms, shops or amenities. We then determine the destinations that your visitors will require, and work with you to develop the best directions to each of those destinations. Once achieved we then develop simple wireframe pages which outline the logic flow, button size and placement, together with the client prior to sign-off. From here a final layer of graphic design treatment can take place prior to final installation. We request client supplied map files and digitise them into user-friendly interactive maps that will work well within an interactive wayfinding application.
We have an existing framework that allows us to select from pre-existing modules to save both development time and costs for the client. These are available on request.
Hardware
The hardware design and selection process does depend on budget, functionality and design/ material considerations. We have a range of off-the-shelf solutions to choose from small to large LCD format, including high end stone, timber, stainless and architectural finishes, to simple low volume sheet metal enclosures. Again depending on preference and budget We can tailor any Directory to be completely unique for each client.
No Wayfinding project development is typical, as some may think, however there are certain similarities. With our development al philosophy, we can glean efficiencies in approach and development procedures, leading toward improved products for our clients.
Clients are not typical either, that is why we treat each new client, no matter how large or small with the same degree of enthusiasm. We know that something new is going to be developed, so it’s always exciting. The lessons and technologies we develop with each project can then benefit the next client to chooses to work with us. We are constantly improving our hardware and software systems, processes, available components and functional offerings. This keeps our solution ahead of the field and positions our clients as leaders in their industry in the Australian market place.
Our experience or design process is not evident in the above outline, Case in point, many of our clients expect that every single destination needs to be programmed into the application, this is not the case. Our development team know how to redirect the energy from the stakeholders to determine actual destinations required for any site by the users or visitors rather than perceived. This is useful in medical implementations where surgical rooms and waiting areas need to be delineated.
Often staff members take short cuts throughout the each venue. Our team focus on getting users to their destinations by directing them via the best route, not necessarily the quickest route. |
